Download and Install old Versions of OS X on a Mac
During the installation of OS X El Capitan on my Mac Book Pro , the install fails and I am left with "OS X Could not be installed on your computer File System verify or repair failed. Quit the installer to restart your computer and try again." No matter how many restarts I do it does not install. Also repair does not work in disk utility. The OS X Utilities window appears. macos - OS X base system is locked, unable to install
Mac OS X cannot be installed on this computer. I installed a Samsung 120 GB harddrive from iFixit. Removal and installation was easy with iFixit. The previous drive was bad. I erased the new harddrive with Disk Utility and selected the recommended MAC OS Extended (Journaled). The new drive shows with the named partitioned file.
